The Beautician / Barber p rovides support to both male and female patrons in need of haircut , blow dry, and hair styling services on Ascension Island. Position is located on Ascension Island. This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: + Ability to recommend and provide treatments for both male and female clients. + Have knowledge in cutting, tapering, blow drying, and styling hair. + Maintain inventory of the barber shop supplies and place orders as needed. + Have experience with electronic trimmers / clippers, blow-dryers, curl or straightening irons, and scissors. + Have knowledge in using bleach, chemical hair relaxer, hair coloring, styling gel / setting lotion, sheen spray, and hair pressing oil. + Inspect products for proper storage and handling in accordance with manufacturer's specifications. + Sanitize workspace after each client. + Have experience acting as a cashier and taking payments. + Performs other duties as assigned . Material & Equipment Directly Used: + Clippers, Combs, Hair Spray, Blow Dryer, and all other standard Beautician / Barber equipment. Working Environment: + Indoor and/or outdoor environment (i.e., humid, warm, rain). + Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. Physical Activities: + Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. + Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head , foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. + Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies . Qualifications Education: + High School Diploma or equivalent experience. Certification: + Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid on-post driver's license. + Base Clearance Experience: + Minimum two (2) years of Beautician / Barber experience. Other Requirements: + Must be fluent in spoken and written English. + Must have a good command of military rank structure. Preferably familiar with related base regulation and pamphlets. + Must be flexible and have excellent interpersonal skills. + Must be able to recognize and quickly resolve customer issues and work independently with little or no supervision. + Must be able to handle multiple tasks at any given time.
