Job Title: Commercial Estimator
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Estimator to join our client in the Greater Philadelphia area. This permanent, direct-hire, 100% onsite role is focused on preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for large-scale commercial construction projects ranging from $1M to $40M, including educational facilities, medical buildings, retail spaces, and self-storage developments.
Compensation:
• $75,000 – $110,000 annually, depending on experience
Work Schedule:
• Monday – Friday, standard business hours
Key Responsibilities of the Commercial Estimator:
• Review project drawings, specifications, and related documents to create detailed cost estimates.
• Perform quantity take-offs and establish accurate pricing for labor, materials, and equipment.
• Solicit, review, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Prepare bid proposals, budgets, and cost reports aligned with project goals.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients during preconstruction.
• Develop conceptual and lump-sum estimates for projects of varying complexity.
• Analyze potential risks and recommend cost-effective alternatives.
• Stay current with market trends, construction materials, and industry best practices.
• Utilize bidding systems and maintain cost databases for ongoing estimating needs.
Qualifications and Skills for the Commercial Estimator:
• 5–15 years of commercial construction estimating experience, ideally with a general contractor.
• Strong understanding of full-cycle estimating processes; subcontractor experience considered if end-to-end knowledge is demonstrated.
• Proficiency with conceptual and lump-sum estimating.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and bidding platforms (e.g., Building Connected).
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to manage multiple bids under deadlines.
