We are currently seeking a seasoned accounting professional to join our team as the Director of Accounting. This full-time, direct hire position offers a competitive salary range of $92,000 - $138,000 per year, based on education and experience, along with a highly competitive benefits package. The role is based in Rochester, NY, and requires on-site presence.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all aspects of budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting for a nonprofit setting.
Oversee the preparation and distribution of financial reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Coordinate external audits and financial reporting activities.
Maintain robust financial records and accounting systems in line with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Provide financial leadership and strategic support to senior management, including the President & CEO and the Board.
Manage the financial aspects of the adult guardianship program and oversee the preparation of funding vouchers.
Foster strong relationships with internal teams and external partners, including regulatory agencies and funders.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree or CPA is preferred.
Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in not-for-profit finance and accounting.
At least five years of leadership experience at a managerial or director level in finance.
Proficiency in nonprofit finance, including budgeting, financial analysis, and revenue cycle management.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and foster collaboration.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
