Job Title: Product Design Engineer VJob Description We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Product Design Engineer V to provide design support for iPad products. This role involves utilizing 2D and 3D CAD to communicate design intent, inspection requirements, and test methods. The successful candidate will develop deep technical knowledge in various areas to understand different design constraints and craft creative solutions to technical problems. Responsibilities + Use 2D and 3D CAD to communicate design intent, inspection requirements, and test methods. + Develop deep technical knowledge in areas outside your realm of expertise to understand other teams' design constraints and craft creative solutions to technical problems. + Collaborate with outside vendors and internal manufacturing experts to optimize designs for function, aesthetic, and manufacturability. + Exercise and develop skills in tolerance and stress analysis, electro-mechanical integration, design for high volume manufacturability and assembly, prototyping, failure analysis, simple fixture design, metrology, and statistical process control. Essential Skills + Design intelligence, including mechanical intuition, creative problem solving, spatial reasoning, and attention to detail. + Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals such as statics, strength of materials, material science, and statistics. + Excellent communication skills, including written, visual, and verbal, with the ability to clearly convey design ideas and contribute to brainstorms. + Experience with 3D CAD programs and 2D drafting, including GD&T. + 2+ years of Mechanical Design industry experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications + BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field. + Experience in the design cycle from concept through manufacturing is a plus. + Experience designing mechanical components for mass production, specifically molded, formed, and machined parts, is a plus. Work Environment This position offers a hybrid schedule, with 3 days on-site (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and remote work on Monday. The role involves collaboration with both external vendors and internal manufacturing experts to ensure design optimization. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $120.00 - $120.00/hr.
