Position:   Medical Technologist (Generalist) and/or Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT)

Location:   Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System, Montgomery, AL

Contract Type:   W2, Full-Time (1-Year Base + 4 Option Years)

Start Date:   September 27, 2025

Pay Rate:   Up to $33/hour - $4.93/hour H&W

Citizenship:   U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder

Overview:

Join a dedicated team at the Central Alabama VA Health Care System (CAVHCS) as a Medical Technologist(MT)/Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT). This role is ideal for professionals with broad clinical lab experience who are passionate about serving Veterans and delivering high-quality diagnostic services. This is a 1 year Contract with a 4 year option to extend.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform testing across all major lab disciplines: Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Immunology, Urinalysis, and more.
  
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
  
• Accurately document and report test results using LIS systems.
  
• Ensure compliance with VA, CLIA, and Joint Commission standards.
  
• Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to support patient care.
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science, or related field.
  
• Board certification as MT, MLT, MLS, or CLS by ASCP or AMT.
  
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a generalist in a clinical lab setting.
  
• Experience in Microbiology preferred.
  
• Must pass credentialing and background checks per VA standards.
