JOB TYPE: Part-Time; 5 Days a week

DESCRIPTION: Male Janitor for NIGHT SHIFT

Experienced candidates must know how to perform in a janitorial environment, to clean and disinfect specific areas after the building closes. They must adhere to strict cleaning standards set forth by the IL Valley YMCA and must be consistent with keeping to those cleaning standards every night during their shift.  

SUMMARY:Will be responsible for the overall cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas and other duties as assigned by the Janitorial Supervisor. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
  ● One year or more of related janitorial experience.
• Perform all physical aspects of the position, including pushing, pulling, walking, and standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
  ● Physical ability to reach, bend, stretch and be able to occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or stand for extended periods of time.
• Regularly carry/lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently carry/lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally carry/lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work with cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
  ● Ability to read labels, MSDS information sheets, and instructions, and operate motorized equipment as needed
• Carry out instructions independently and get along with people from diverse backgrounds.
  ● Must be able to stay alert to potential safety and security problems, and think and act quickly in emergency situations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
● Provide exceptional janitorial services to ensure the cleanliness of the facility after hours in harmony with the mission statement and policies of the IL Valley YMCA. 
● Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, showers, restrooms, floors, walls, mirrors, in the Men’s Locker Rooms and Men’s Restrooms.
● Empties waste containers, Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies, reporting supply stock problems as needed.

• Ensures high-touch areas are sanitized, and reports maintenance or safety issues as needed
• Understands the emergency procedures and knows the location of emergency equipment.
• Provide updates to the Janitorial Supervisor to maintain an adequate supply of inventory to complete janitorial tasks for assigned areas.
• Other duties may be assigned.

The effectiveness of a successful janitor will be demonstrated by a clean, safe, and inviting environment for members, program participants, guests and staff.
