Packaging & Quality Manager to help us maintain the highest standards of consistency and reliability as we scale.
The Role
We’re seeking a
Packaging & Quality Manager to oversee packaging operations and lead our quality control program. This role is responsible for ensuring that every can and keg leaving our brewery meets strict standards for freshness, stability, and consistency.
This is a
hands-on management position — you’ll be directly involved in packaging runs, QC testing, and process improvements while also leading and developing the team.
You will report to the
Head of Operations & Finance / Ownership group and work closely with the Brewmaster and production team.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee daily packaging operations (canning and kegging) to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and quality.
- Lead and manage a comprehensive quality program, including sensory, lab, microbiological, and packaging integrity testing.
- Conduct and document regular QC checks on raw materials, in-process beer, and finished product.
- Train, schedule, and supervise packaging staff; ensure proper staffing levels.
- Develop and enforce SOPs for packaging and QC procedures.
- Collaborate with the Brewmaster on release readiness and QC sign-offs.
- Manage packaging inventory and procurement (cans, labels, keg collars, etc.).
- Troubleshoot packaging line issues and coordinate maintenance/repairs.
- Monitor yields, losses, and packaging efficiency; identify and implement improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards (TTB, FDA, OSHA, state/local).
- Foster a culture of accountability, attention to detail, and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in a production brewery, with a focus on packaging and/or quality, with experience at facilities producing at least 10,000 barrels per year; preference given to candidates from breweries producing 25,000+ barrels annually.
- 2+ years in a management or supervisory role.
- Hands-on experience with canning/kegging lines and packaging equipment troubleshooting.
- Strong background in QC/QA methods, including sensory analysis, microbiology, and stability testing.
- Familiarity with brewery management software (Ekos or similar).
- Experience with inventory management and cost control for packaging materials.
- Knowledge of safety programs and compliance regulations.
- Excellent leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- 4-year degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field preferred.
