Overview and Responsibilities:
CBS Miami is looking for a bold, innovative, standout newscast producer who knows how to create meaningful newscasts! This producer must be driven, creative, a great teammate and have impeccable news judgment and ethics. We’re looking for someone to lead all aspects of the production of a nightly newscast and know how to win the big story and showcase your content and talent.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Create an engaging newscast that feels comprehensive while simultaneously creating moments for news anchors to show command of the information.
- Create a visually compelling, balanced newscast that is well-paced.
- Write conversational, balanced copy that provides the appropriate depth and context.
- React quickly to breaking news and weather.
- Actively participate in editorial meetings and pitch stories regularly.
- Stay organized while managing time, people and other resources.
- Develop teamwork and collaboration through strong communication skills.
- Edit pacers for newscast from desktop computer.
- Work well under deadlines.
- Exhibit confidence in the control room.
- Ensure accurate grammar, spelling, and attention to detail in all content produced.
- Incorporate digital elements into newscasts in a significant way.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience producing newscasts in a medium to large market.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Experience on INEWS or equivalent news computer system.
- Experience working with video editing systems.
- Must be willing to work variable hours, including overnight, weekends and holidays.
Additional Qualifications:
- Must exhibit deep understanding of journalistic principals and ethics.
- A proven track record as a newsroom leader.
- Must be a team player who brings a positive attitude.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
