Job Title: Program Underwriter
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Program Underwriter to join our client to support underwriting operations for specialized insurance programs. This direct-hire position, based in West Chester, PA, begins with onsite training and transitions into a hybrid schedule with two remote days per week. The Program Underwriter will focus on evaluating risk, negotiating pricing, and ensuring the profitability of new and renewal accounts while fostering strong relationships with brokers and carriers. This role is ideal for early-career professionals looking to expand their expertise in admitted insurance practices with opportunities for continued professional growth.
Compensation:
$70,000 – $90,000 annually
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, normal business hours
Key Responsibilities of the Program Underwriter:
• Evaluate new and renewal business by conducting detailed risk assessments, analyzing coverage needs, and recommending appropriate terms.
• Manage underwriting files, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution of quality control and audit findings.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as Sales and Marketing to strengthen client relationships and drive binding opportunities.
• Monitor program performance by tracking premiums, profitability, and market trends, and support the development of business plans.
• Provide mentorship to newer team members and participate in ongoing training and professional development initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills for the Program Underwriter:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 1–4 years of property & casualty underwriting experience, ideally within admitted insurance programs.
• Ability to obtain a Property & Casualty license within the first year if not already licensed.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and comfort with underwriting technology and systems.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships and resolve complex issues.
