Job Description

Job Title: Provider Credentialing Specialist

Location: St. Paul, MN (Hybrid after training, but must be able to commute on-site)

Industry: Healthcare Revenue Cycle

Pay: $20-25/hour

Hours: M-F, standard hours

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision.

Credentialing Specialist – Essential Functions

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date credentialing records for all healthcare providers.
  • Track and manage licensure, certifications, CME requirements, and health records; monitor expiration dates to ensure timely renewals.
  • Complete and submit initial credentialing and reappointment applications; follow up with providers and organizations to support timely processing.
  • Review applications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Communicate directly with providers to collect and verify information required for credentialing and to maintain current records.
  • Conduct primary source verifications of provider credentials.
  • Assist hospitals, payers, and other healthcare entities by supplying necessary information to maintain provider credentialing files.
  • Respond promptly to email and phone inquiries related to credentialing.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of all provider credentialing records in accordance with organizational policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Credentialing Manager to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve credentialing issues.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in credentialing or a related healthcare administrative role preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong computer skills with a demonstrated ability to manage data accurately and efficiently.
