Psych State Hospitals in WV is hiring RNs!

Need: Psych RN

Location: Weston

Length of Contract: 26 weeks

Start : 2/10/25

State Hospital orientation is 2-3 weeks long, M-F. Then you will work your preceptor’s schedule for 40 hours before going on your own shift.

MUST BE OPEN TO ANY SHIFT THROUGHOUT THE LENGTH OF THE CONTRACT

Weston Shifts: 12 hr night shifts are most common. Possible schedules:

• 36 HRS: [2-2-3 rotation; every other weekend off (3 days)]
• 40 HRS: Every Weekend [(2) 12s and (1) 16HR Shift]
• 48 HRS: Every Weekend (3) 16s

  OT! OT! OT! Must be open to working up to 20 hours of OT each week. Mandation is a possibility.

• ITEMS FOR PROFILE:

  • Resume (ensure it is current)
  • Length of contract: 26 weeks
  • Start Date:
    • Time off will not be granted for the initial contract. Time off is granted for extensions. If something comes up, you may request it with the facility directly. Time off will not be listed in your offer letter. New contractors can not ask for holidays off.
  • Three reference, at least one of which must be professional
  • Copy of your BLS from AHA (if yours recently expired, it can be renewed at facility)
  • COVID Immunization card (if you have one)
  • Availability for phone interview with nurse manager

    Once hired we will ask for: (if you have it readily available, go ahead and send these items as well, it will expedite the process)

  • 2 step PPD or Tspot from within the last year
    • Immunizations: Terra Alta/Weston requires Hep B titers or declination, MMR and Var titer or declination, and flu shot if flu season. Huntington requires vaccine or titers for Hep B, Tdap, MMR and Varicella from within last 2-3 years- declinations not accepted;
  • Copy of driver’s license and social security card
  • RN school transcript or diploma
  • We’ll need to schedule a drug and alcohol screen as well as run a criminal background, WV Cares state clearance, and APS/CPS check
    • To your knowledge, would anything come up on the report? Misdemeanors? Probation? Protective services investigation? Etc.

      William R Sharpe, Jr. Hospital in Weston:

      Campus has 8 units total, about 25 patients per unit.

      2 RNs per unit on days; 1 at night

      Also staffed with LPNs, aides, and clinical staff

      Facility does quarantine residents in a COVID unit when necessary
