This Registered Nurse (RN) position in Labor & Delivery/OB focuses on providing skilled nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients in a Level I trauma center. The RN will manage high-risk deliveries, perform various procedures, administer medications, and provide neonatal care. A minimum of two years of experience is required.

Responsibilities:
- Providing comprehensive antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care.
- Performing sterile vaginal exams, NSTs, OCTs, and fetal monitoring (internal and external).
- Administering medications (e.g., Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives).
- Assisting with high-risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, and Cesarean sections.
- Managing postpartum hemorrhage and shock.
- Providing neonatal care, including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and newborn assessments.
- Performing IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administering blood products.
- Managing pain using methods such as epidural anesthesia.
- Providing patient and family education on postpartum care, newborn care, and circumcision care.
- Maintaining accurate documentation in Cerner.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
- Floating to pediatrics as needed.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or in the application process with an ETA.
- Minimum of two years of experience in Labor & Delivery.
- ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring certifications.
- Proficiency in antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal care.
- Skills in IV therapy, medication administration, and pain management.
- Experience with various procedures (e.g., sterile vaginal exams, episiotomy care, Foley catheter insertion).
- Ability to manage high-risk deliveries and postpartum complications.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in a community hospital setting.
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record system.
Special Considerations:
- 4x12 or 3x12 night shifts (6 PM - 6:30 AM).
- No on-call requirements.
- Floating to pediatrics based on need.
- Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager.
- Client may call-off up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment without pay; exceeding this results in billing for cancelled shifts.
- Return to office (RTO) restrictions: ideally no more than 5 days.
- Must have experience in a setting with less than 100 births per month.
Scheduling:
- 4x12 or 3x12 night shifts (6 PM - 6:30 AM).
- Shift assignments and schedule requests are discussed with the manager.
