Job Description

The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is looking for Event Technicians to help bring our resort’s world-renowned holiday experiences to life. This position is rooted in holiday lighting and décor installation but has grown to include select entertainment technology support. We’re looking for creative, detail-oriented individuals who take pride in technical excellence, holiday spirit, and guest satisfaction.

Whether you're wrapping a 60-foot tree in lights, installing dynamic high-end dynamic lighting fixtures to create immersive experiences, or helping with holiday audio, every day brings a new opportunity to help create unforgettable moments.

Responsibilities

Holiday Lighting & Décor Installation (Primary Focus)

  • Install, maintain, and remove large-scale seasonal lighting displays and themed décor across resort grounds, rooftops, and trees.
  • Handle electrical wiring, power distribution, and weatherproofing of holiday installations.
  • Work from ladders, lifts, and rooftops to safely execute high-quality lighting layouts and visual displays.

Support Live Entertainment & Event Production (Secondary)

  • Assist with setup and teardown of lighting and audio elements for pre-programmed nighttime shows and activations.
  • Install and troubleshoot moving lights, DMX-controlled fixtures, and basic sound equipment.
  • Collaborate with third party A/V teams to ensure seamless integration of décor and entertainment elements.

Maintenance & Safety

  • Troubleshoot lighting failures or circuit issues, replacing lamps or cables as needed.
  • Operate hand and power tools, lifts, and specialty equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all resort, OSHA, and event safety procedures—especially when working at heights or with power.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Christmas light installation or related field.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with basic electrical systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 100lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Patience and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Bonus Points If You Have…

  • Knowledge of DMX, lighting consoles, or live event production workflows.
  • Familiarity with lighting and sound in an entertainment or theatrical setting.
  • A background in technical theater, event production, theme parks, or live shows.
  • Knowledge of holiday lighting controllers and protocols such as but not limited to LOR, XLights, and WS2811.
