Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Database Analyst or Systems Programmer with expertise in z/Db2, IMS DB/DC, and/or ADABAS to join our enterprise infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing mainframe database platforms to ensure high performance, availability, security, and scalability of enterprise applications.

Candidates needs to have:

• 8+ years of hands-on experience with z/Db2, IMS DB/DC, and/or ADABAS.
• Strong knowledge of IBM DB2 database administration on z/OS.
• Proficiency in SQL, data partitioning, indexing, and data sharing concepts.
• Experience with IIDR IBM Infosphere Data Replication Suite.
• Working knowledge of zConnect (zCEE) API framework.
• Solid experience with JCL and mainframe operating system concepts.
• Proven troubleshooting, performance tuning, and incident resolution skills.
• Familiar with backup/recovery and DR planning in enterprise environments.

Job Description:

Database Administration & Maintenance

• Manage IBM Db2 databases on the z/OS mainframe platform.
• Create and manage database objects (tables, indexes, table spaces).
• Load, unload, and reorganize data using DB2 utilities.
• Develop and implement robust backup, recovery, and DR strategies.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization

• Monitor database performance and identify/resolve bottlenecks.
• Perform tuning to optimize SQL query and system performance.
• Use tools like RUNSTATS and EXPLAIN for statistics collection and optimization.

Collaboration & Consultation

• Partner with application development teams to support database design and system integration.
• Serve as SME for database architecture and zConnect (zCEE) APIs.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs or contractors.

Software & System Management

• Oversee installation, configuration, and upgrades of database software (DB2, IMS, ADABAS).
• Collaborate with external vendors on software releases and conversions.
• Ensure compliance with change, incident, and problem management processes.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure data security and regulatory compliance (SOX, etc.).
• Participate in internal and external audits and implement remediation plans.
• Identify and communicate database risks to leadership with appropriate mitigation strategies.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

• Participate in DR planning, testing, and implementation.
• Ensure backup and failover procedures are tested and documented.

Technology Strategy & Lifecycle Management

• Stay current with emerging database technologies and IBM z/OS ecosystem.
• Evaluate deprecated features and plan migrations or replacements accordingly.
