A Day in the Life: Substitute Teacher (Contract) at psychiatric hospital in Westland, MI

You will step into the shoes of a teacher, offering stability and continued learning for students facing behavioral and academic challenges. Your contract role as a Substitute Teacher is to be the constant, ensuring their intellectual, social, and emotional growth doesn't pause.

The Journey Ahead (Your Responsibilities)

From 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM , your days will be filled with purpose:

• The Educator: You'll develop and execute daily lesson plans for High School subjects (Math, ELA, and/or Social Studies). You’ll utilize varied teaching techniques to implement the approved curriculum, making sure every student has equal access to learning .
• The Compassionate Leader: Your classroom management will be fair, firm, and consistent , promoting self-discipline and maximizing learning time. You will support students’ emotional growth and foster an atmosphere that is truly conducive to learning.
• The Communicator: You'll be a key link, maintaining effective communication with students, staff, and parents, and keeping accurate records of student progress.
• The Guardian: You will supervise students in various settings and ensure the appropriate use and care of classroom resources .

• Experience: You have valuable experience working with children facing behavioral and academic challenges .
• Knowledge: You possess solid knowledge of High School Level Math, English Language Arts, and/or Social Studies .
• Bonus Trait: Experience in special education is a plus, but not required—your dedication is what matters most.

The Rewards

• Pay: A competitive rate of $24 per hour .
• Duration: This is a rewarding contract assignment with an estimated length of up to 832 hours .
