Job Description

Job Summary

The Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured Assistant/Associate Professor, seeking to attract exceptional candidates with interests and expertise in Quantum Information Science and Engineering (QISE). Target areas of interest include experimental or theoretical studies in quantum photonics, quantum integrated circuits, quantum sensing, quantum networking, and quantum computing. Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline by the employment start date. Early-career applicants should show evidence of initiating independent research, while mid-career applicants should demonstrate a sustained record of independent research within academic or industrial organizations, and contributions to education and/or mentoring. The successful candidate will conduct original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service at the School, College, and University levels.

QISE strives to harness the defining quantum mechanical properties of superposition and entanglement to provide breakthrough advances for computing, sensing, secure communications, and novel device functionalities. As such, this new faculty position comes at a time when the College leaderships have committed to significant investment in QISE. ECE is especially seeking to leverage our existing strengths in quantum photonics, quantum sensing, and quantum networking to be part of the cutting-edge interdisciplinary environment at Purdue University, which has recently launched a new major initiative, Purdue Computes, that supports and connects computing, AI, semiconductors and quantum. The QISE community at Purdue will further benefit from the resources and support in Purdue University’s Discovery Park and its interdisciplinary centers, particularly the Purdue Quantum Science and Engineering Institute (PQSEI) and Birck Nanotechnology Center (BNC).
