Job Description

Position Overview:

Camp Cody is seeking a highly skilled, organized, and creative Executive Chef to oversee all food service operations across our summer camp and year-round events including weddings, corporate retreats, and private group rentals. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring delicious, safe, and well-coordinated food service for up to 700 campers during summer and for a variety of weddings, groups, and organizational clients throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Kitchen Management
  • Supervise, train, and schedule all kitchen staff (cooks, prep team, dish staff).
  • Lead all meal service operations for summer camp and events year-round.
  • Maintain kitchen compliance with health codes, ServSafe standards, and safety regulations.
  • Promote a collaborative, respectful kitchen environment.
Culinary & Menu Development
  • Execute large-scale meals during the summer.
  • Plan and prepare custom menus for summer camp, weddings, retreats, and group events with varying dietary needs.
  • Adapt menus seasonally and for guest preferences (plated dinners, buffets, cookouts, etc.).
  • Oversee special dietary accommodations including allergies, gluten-free, and vegetarian/vegan needs.
Conference Center (Year-Round)
  • Collaborate with the Events Manager on timing, logistics, and menu needs.
  • Manage kitchen operations for events.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and hospitality at all events.
Inventory & Purchasing
  • Oversee inventory tracking, food ordering, and vendor relations.
  • Ensure food cost efficiency and waste reduction across seasons.
  • Maintain proper storage and stock rotation for health and budget standards.
Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of culinary experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership/executive role.
  • Experience in both high-volume cooking (institutional or camp) and event catering.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, special dietary requirements, and menu planning.
  • ServSafe Certification.
  • Comfortable working a flexible year-round schedule including some evenings and holidays.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation, Benefits & Schedule:
  • Summer Season (June–August): Full-time, 6 days/week
  • Fall, Winter, Spring: Based on event volume; schedule varies (not limited to weekends)
