We’re seeking a motivated and reliable individual who is eager to learn and grow in a dynamic shop environment. The Fabrication Assistant's role is essential to keeping our workspace running smoothly and ensuring the team can focus on producing high-quality results for our clients.

This position also presents a great opportunity for individuals seeking to develop their carpentry skills, gaining hands-on experience and learning directly from experienced makers.

Role Overview:

• The primary focus of this role is to support the overall organization and efficiency of our fabrication department.
• Key responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness in the department, managing inventory of tools and hardware, reordering supplies when needed, and ensuring the shop floor is organized and ready for daily production.

We’re looking for someone who communicates well, solves problems as they arise, adapts quickly, pays close attention to detail, and can work both independently and as part of a team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• General department upkeep (sweeping, emptying trash cans, clearing offcut bins, changing filters).
• Lumber management and organization.
• Hardware inventory management, including reordering stock as needed and keeping bins/walls organized.
• Tool oversight, ensuring tools are tracked and returned at the end of each workday.
• Assisting carpenters and shop staff as needed.

Schedule:

• Regular hours: Monday-Friday, 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm [30 minutes or 1 hour lunch break is off the clock].
• Flexibility required for occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime during busy periods.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Experience in a fabrication shop preferred, but not required.
• Willingness to learn hardware, tools, and ordering systems.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude with a readiness to pitch in where needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs regularly.
• Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
• Ability to climb stairs or ladders as needed.
• Comfortable working in varying shop conditions (dust, noise, temperature changes).
• Manual dexterity to handle tools, materials, and small hardware.
• Ability to push/pull carts or materials weighing up to 100 lbs (with assistance when needed).
